Magic Mike claims Man Of The Match as 2s produce mammoth performance.

Harwich second string produced a mammoth performance this week at a very un-hospital Low Road with the freezing temperatures and snow showers prevailed throughout the game as they entertained Sudbury who had dealt them a 50 point drumming earlier in the season.

The home side squad was bolstered with the presents on injury worry prop Rob Kemp and a rare outing from experienced hooker Grant Rayner both joining skipper Oly Bray in the front row and complement a strong forward contingent,

The game was dominated by Harwich right from the off, shocking the visitors with an early try as father and son combo Guy and Lewis Williams attacking from deep combined for fullback Lewis to touch down for the first of a fourteen try haul for his team.

The hosts looking fresh after a week layoff put on a display of open rugby to defy the artic conditions as forward and back alike where full of running were relentless as they tested the visitors defence throughout, pressing forward at every opportunity which produced ten individual try scorers, including four for wing Lewis Kerley who in his first seasons is showing how he has developed his skill set and special awareness as he ruled out wide as well as two for tries for Mike Cowley the veteran lock and, one a piece for Guy and Lewis Williams, Oly Bray, Alex Cullen, Ian Flook, Josh Edwards, Willem Smith and Craig Wilson who also bagged eight conversions for his efforts.

Despite the final score line Sudbury demonstrated great character and resolves throughout making it a very physical contest and there are a lot of aching bruised bodies as a result, Harwich will have to wait on availabilities for Ciaran Johnston and Dan Johnson both of whom suffered injuries, Ciaran the young scrum half departure giving opportunity for back row Josh Edwards to flex his muscles at 9, whilst the experienced centre Alex Cullen took up station in the centres to grab a try for himself and set up Flook for another.

Harwich new comers for this season Dave Warren and Lee Durrant both gave good account of themselves as they gained experience at hooker and revelled in the physical encounters, the power house which is the lock pairing of Smith and Cowley put in outstanding performances all-round the park, Cowley taking man of the match by a very short nose from his fellow lock and winger Kerley on the day.
