With high hopes H&D took the kick to start the game, as the ball was knocked forward into the hands of H&D's Ryan Bradley he managed to slip past the defence and score the first try of the afternoon. Ben smith managed to slot the ball through the posts leaving the score 7-0.
After a great start to the game H&D were eager to keep the momentum and wasn't long before the scoreline changed again, with Adam Palmer scoring the second try. H&D were now in full swing, securing a strong lead over Colchester. At the 25 minute mark Jack Mulligan slithered though Colchester's defence before scoring Harwich's 5th try of the game and another conversion, 35-0. As the first half was coming to an end Colchester scored a converted try, bringing the score to 35-7.
The second half had commenced and it wasn't long before Ryan Bradley scored again, securing his hat-trick! As changes were made and both teams showing signs of fatigue Colchester scored another try but not converting leaving the score 40-12.
As H&D battled though the last half of the game, tries were seen from both sides. With the game concluded the final score stood at 71-19 and a great win for Harwich & Dovercourt. Overall H&D's forwards showed some superb scrumaging as well as the back line showing great ball skills. Next week H&D II play at home against Aldeburgh, whilst the 1st XV travel to Kings Cross Steelers for the first round of the Essex Cup.
