Harwich were sitting in second spot in the league so we're feeling confident although wary of a Felixstowe side that had won their last two games.
The game started with Harwich putting pressure on the Felixstowe try line right from the start. Felixstowe's defence held firm for the first 10 minutes but Harwich's pressure was soon rewarded with their first try to Jack Cairns, converted by Shaun Fox. Harwich then quickly had their second with Robert Edgar scoring, not converted, 0-12 Harwich.
Felixstowe finally put pressure on Harwich and were rewarded with a penalty making it 3-12 Harwich. The rest of the half was all Harwich. Captain Kyle Hutchins, playing in the centre's, then scored the first of his three tries to take Harwich to 3-17.
Nick Faliveno finished an excellent move, a well placed kick ahead by Kier Blacker was caught by Adam Eldridge who off-loaded to Faliveno to finish in the corner, 3-22. Then came the try of the game, a move off the back of a scrum saw veteran scrum half Kier Blacker inter-passing with wing Josh Jones, leaving defenders chasing shadows for Blacker to score a 50 metre try. Half time 3-27.
The second half saw Harwich pick up where they left of with Kyran Green scoring another superb team try, converted by Eldridge, 3-34. Hutchins then scored his second after some great passing between the backs, converted by Eldridge, 3-41.
Harwich then switched off and a series of penalties saw Felixstowe make ground and score a well deserved try, 8-41. This seemed to wake Harwich up. Harwich would score two more tries, one to Hutchins giving him this hat-trick , converted by Eldridge, and Eldridge himself finished the scoring with a try in the right corner, making the final score 8-53 to Harwich.
Harwich will be pleased with the win but annoyed they let Felixstowe score.
Harwich now enjoy a week off before playing the Suffolk Plate Final on the 6th of December.
