Millwall were clearly keen to start the game strong and get the travelling out of their legs early and with some good continuity play pushed the Harwich defence backwards with some high tempo attacking rugby.
Fortunately some strong last ditch defence saved Harwich from conceding early, but it was clear the visitors had no intention of rolling over.
Harwich started to get a foot hold in the game and with some strong defensive and offensive work from number 10, Ben Moore, Harwich moved the ball well and a clever tactical kick from Moore found Harwich attacking in their opposition 22.
With some continued pressure and strong forward work, Josh Leeks took a ball to the line and was thought to have touched down only for the referee to call a knock on and a turn over to Millwall.
Harwich continued to pressure in defence and attack and although they spent a large part of the half pressuring the Millwall line, they were unable to breach the strong travelling defence.
Millwall then strung together an attack of their own and moving the ball from one wing to another, they were able to go over the line for the first try of the game making the score 0-5.
Harwich were keen to get back on the attack and spent the remainder of the half attacking the Millwall line again. Pressurizing the travelling defence Harwich were able to get a penalty 30 meters out which Moore converted to bring the score to 3-5 with the half time whistle sounding.
The second half started similarly to the first with Millwall going on the attack and throwing the ball around well to cause the Harwich defence some issues and after some fast attacking play they were able to cross the Harwich line again to make the score 3-10.
A large part of the half was spent with both sides pressuring each other to find the next breakthrough. With H&D down to 14 men, due to a sin-bin. It was the visitors who really grabbed the game by its horns and forced the line again to go over in the corner and make the score 3-15.
Harwich, although deflated, worked hard to get back into the game and with only a minute left, were able to crash over the line themselves after some strong ball carrying from the forwards and some slick handling from the backs. The kick was converted making the score 10-15.
With the next kick of the game, Harwich aimed to attack and potentially salvage the win, but the ball was turned over and Millwall kicked the ball out of play to bring the game to an end.
Harwich man of the match was Sean Mills, with runner up going to always hard working Tom Kite.
