The opening fifteen minutes starting evenly, with both sides testing their opposition. But it was Billericay who took the lead through a penalty kick. Harwich and Dovercourt then had a period of good possession, but failed to convert the possession in to points.
Twenty minutes into the match, the home side started to take control of the game, noticeably in the line out. Billericay scoring two tries before half time, taking the score to 17 – 0 at the break.
The second half was always going to be tough for Harwich &Dovercourt, who were playing up hill, with a seventeen point deficit. Injuries to Cameron Clark and Robert Edgar also hindered the visitors’ line out. Billericay continued to control the game and went on to score four second half tries.
Harwich & Dovercourt did show glimpses of the rugby they are capable of producing and were rewarded with a consolation try. Winger, Andrew Sterry, finishing off a well worked move from the Harwich & Dovercourt back-line. Final Score Billericay 45 - Harwich & Dovercourt 05.
This was a tough day on the road for Harwich & Dovercourt, who worked tirelessly until the final whilst. But, will now look to dust themselves down and put in a strong performance against Basildon at home this Saturday, 2:30 pm Kick off.
