Lucie Gibson Captained Essex as Harwich & Dovercourt's Yas Amber and Lucie Gibson represented Essex Ladies in the Gill Burns County Championship final at Richmond Rugby last Sunday.

Leicestershire staged a remarkable second half comeback having trailed by 10 points at half time to beat Essex 32-29 in a thrilling Division Two final at Richmond.

Essex started the game well, rushing out to an early lead and were soon two tries in front. After feeling the pressure early, Leicestershire recovered to get them on par, scoring twice after the two early Essex tries to level the scores at twelve apiece.

However, the Essex steamroller carried on in the first half, with the score 22-12 at half time.

After the interval, Leicestershire came out looking like a different team, and promptly scored twenty unanswered points to take a lead that they would not relinquish.

Three second half tries from Leicestershire enabled them to pull away, a complete swing after a first half in which Essex were applying the pressure.

Essex were twice reduced to fourteen players which enabled the Leicestershire forwards to capitalize and slot a penalty to win the game, Essex Ladies 29 – 32 Leicestershire Ladies.
