Harwich made the short trip to Mistley on Saturday for their latest EC 2 south fixture.

Harwich won the last game between the two sides but as usual Mistley would be very eager to beat their local rivals.

Mistley started the brighter of the two sides earning a penalty from the first kick-off, which Mistley converted for a 3-nil lead. This was then added to almost right away when Mistley scored a converted try from close range, 10-nil Mistley.

With their winning streak on the line Harwich finally began to get into the game, from a penalty Sam Male converted to give Harwich their first points 10-3 Mistley.

With Josh Jones causing the Mistley side problems with his speed Harwich broke up the field where the ball found Ian Flook on the wing who scored an excellent try, 10-8 Mistley.

Mistley were having some success using their big forwards to run at the smaller Harwich side but Harwich's ability to move the ball across the pitch was paying dividends. Another break from Harwich's backs saw Nick Faliveno score another well worked team try, converted by Male, for a half time lead for Harwich 10-15.

Mistley came out firing after half time and scored another unconverted try to tie the game at 15 a piece.

Tommy Kite then scored an excellent try for Harwich after following up a perfectly placed kick by Male, the Mistley player was not quick enough to force the ball in goal and Kite scored, 15-20 Harwich.

Faliveno then scored a comical try as a Mistley player kicked the ball into his own players face, the ball bounced back over the Mistley line with Faliveno grounding the ball for another Harwich score, 15-25 Harwich.

Mistley then scored back to back tries through their hard running forwards to tie the game up at 25 all with 2 minutes remaining.

From the restart Harwich put pressure on the tiring Mistley side and managed to secure a penalty, Kier Blacker stepped up and slotted what would prove to be the winning score 25-28 Harwich.

Mistley made the young Harwich side work for this victory but Harwich showed that sometimes winning ugly is enough. Harwich now look forward to their last home game of the season against Felixstowe and hope to give their loyal supporters something to cheer about.
