Harwich entertained Thorpeness on Saturday looking to go into the Xmas break with another win.

From the first whistle is was obvious that Thorpeness were in for a long afternoon as Harwich went about there work. Robert Edgar was the first to score, scoring two quick converted tries from excellent support play. 10-0 Harwich.

Skipper Kyle Hutchins was next to score after bursting through the opposition defence, Kier Blacker converting,17-0. Edgar then had two more quick tries, giving him 4 in less than 20mins,1 converted by Blacker, 29-0.

At this stage the writing was on the wall for Thorpeness but they kept trying and just missed with a penalty attempt. More strong running from Robert Kemp, George Brunning and Paul Sewell meant the pressure was never let off. Blacker then scored a good individual try after attacking down the blind side and running in from 50 metres, he converted his own try to make the score 36-0. Jack Cairns rounded off the half with a good back line try which Blacker converted to take the score to 43-0 at half time.

Anyone thinking the scoring would slow down in the second half was mistaken. Harwich were told by coach Manning to stick to the game plan and be more clinical, this paid off with 54 more points being scored.

Evergreen Joe Francis was introduced to the game and didn't take long to score a well worked try, converted by Hutchins, 50-0. Oly Bray playing his best game in the first team scored out wide, Hutchins kicking an excellent conversion, 57-0.

Hutchins then had his second, Hutchins converts. Nick Faliveno then scored after a dry spell to take the score out to 71-0. Harwich weren't done and further scores followed, Ian Flook scored two, Francis also added one more to give him 2 tries and Skipper Hutchins scored his third, ending his day with 27 points.

Credit must go to Thorpeness for never giving up and at times did make the Harwich defence work hard. This was an excellent way for Harwich to finish the year off.

Harwich 1st team now look forward to a hard Suffolk Cup game vs Clacton at home on the 3rd of January.
