Harwich were set for a tough game against Mersea Island rugby club, at low road.

The visitors kicked the game off allowing Harwich to have the first chance of attack.
Harwich started off very well, by building up good phases and using the ball very well throughout the team.
The first points came through some good build up play from the forwards allowed the backs to be released and the try was scored Craig Wilson. The try was converted by Sam Male to make the score 7-0.
Harwich then piled the pressure on again by dominating the scrums and lineouts. The next try came through joint man of the match Ciaran Osborne who finished of a try skillfully in the corner by scooping up a hard pass to go over the line. Male converted to make the score 14-0.
Harwich continued to control the tempo of the game, by using the ball wisely and by making the tackles in defense.
The score at half time was 14-0.
Mersea came out of the blocks in the second half by putting pressure on the the home side. The harwich side stayed strong, Mersea only came away with a total of 6 points from two penalties.
Harwich then woke up again and applied good pressure on attack and defense.
Leading to another try from Ciaran Osborne after some slick handling from the backs. Male missed the conversion to make the score 19-6.
The next try came through George Brunning after some great phase work from the forwards. The try was not converted to make the score 24-6.
By this point Harwich knew they could relax a bit but they didn’t let off, they carried on putting the pressure on the traveling rivals.
Simon Palmer was next on the score sheet, scoring a good try after good work from the pack. The try was converted by Eldridge, making the score 31-6.
Simon Palmer, who is fine form at the moment, got himself on the scoresheet for a second time. The conversion was missed making the score 36-6.
The last try of the game of the game came through Adam Eldridge, after some good passing in open play via the forwards and backs. Eldridge converted his own try to make the final score 43-6 to Harwich.
The two players that got man of match were Simon Pitham and Ciaran Osborne.
Next week Harwich travel away to Brentwood Mavericks in what is to be the biggest test of season yet.
