Harwich hosted Thames Rugby Club at Low Road field, in what was to be an exciting fixture.
The hosts put the travelling side under a lot of pressure at the start of the game, through set pieces and in open play defence.
Thames conceded a penalty inside their 22, converted by Adam Eldridge
, giving the hosts the lead 3-0.
Soon after Kyran Green
crashed over the line after some good phase work from the forwards. Eldridge added the extras to make the score 10-0.
As the game went on Harwich repelled any threats from Thames with some good tackling and good pressure from the defensive line.
Harwich used the ball well in open play to allow Captain George Brunning
to cross the line to score under the posts. Eldridge converted making the score 17-0.
Harwich were put under pressure by some silly mistakes which led to Thames receiving a penalty which was missed.
At the end of the first half substitute Harley Hema
went over the line using good strength and footwork. Eldridge converted, making the score 24-0 at half time.
After a much needed team talk from coach Cullen, Harwich stepped up a gear. Putting a lot of pressure on the visiting side.
After a good bit of phase play the ball fell to Nemani Ledua
who went over the line after stepping several players. Eldridge converted to make the score 31-0.
Harwich piled on more pressure which led to Thames conceding a penalty. Eldridge converted to make the score 34-0.
Ledua using speeed and awareness went over the line again. Eldridge converted, 41-0.
was next to cross the line after some fantastic passing between the forwards. Eldridge missed the extras, 46-0.
Harwich took their foot off the gas allowing Thames to get into the game. They raced away to score their first try of the match, which was converted making the score 46-7.
Harwich reacted well by scoring a try through Sean Mills Jnr
. Eldridge converted to make the score 53-7.
Shortly after Mills again crossed the line in the corner. The conversion was missed 58-7.
The last try of the day came through veteran Adrian Dalby
. Eldridge converted.

Captain Brunning said “After the statement we made last week against Clacton, the lads were determined to prove it wasn't a one off. They played hard and put there bodies on the line. Particular mention should go to Sean Mills Jnr
and Tom Kite
for their 9/10 combination work”.
Man of the match was Damien Smith.
Next week Harwich travel to Billericay to try and make it 3 from 3.
