The following has been edited slightly. . .however it is important not to let the truth get in the way of a good match report!!

It was another week but the same old story for Harwich & Dovercourt. H&D picked up another valuable bonus point win, but yet again the players will have left the pitch wondering why they hadn't scored more points.

Harwich looked dangerous from the off, playing an expansive game. This play was rewarded after ten minutes when the veteran winger Adrian Dalby, who had taken the squads average age from 24 to 46 with his presents in the squad, crossed the line. Male converted. 0-7

Scrum half Keir Blacker was next on the score sheet for H&D. The scrum half scored three '9s' from the judges when he caught the Broadland back row napping to break the defensive line from a scrum. The dance lessons are really starting to reap rewards for Blacker as he weaved his way through the home sides cover defence to pirouette over the line for a try. Supporters on the side line compared Blackers moves and grace to that of a 13 year old Russian ballet dancer. Coach and father Walter Blacker said that he was extremely proud of his son and that he expects Keir to dance with sisters Jessica and Briony at the Club's end of season dinner and dance. Whilst Blacker celebrated with more pirouette and back flips, Male converted 0-14

Jay Hatcher then picked up his long awaited first try of the season soon after. Harwich kicked their way into the Broadland twenty two after the home side were penalised at the breakdown. From the resulting lineout Hatcher peeled off a maul from 10 yards out to power over the line.

The forever ginger Jason 'Charmone' Hatcher then turned provider for the next two trys. Firstly setting up Sam Male after Harwich stretched the Broadland defense after several phases of play. The ball found its way out wide to Hatcher who was avoiding getting involved in too many rucks. Hatcher committed the last defender and off loaded to Silver Fox Male to finished off in the corner.

Second row Robert Edgar, who has had an outstanding season for H&D scored Harwich's fifth of the half. Again the opportunity was created from the Harwich lineout. Hatcher again broke the defensive line to off load to the supporting Edgar who shrugged off several desperate tackles to cross the line. Many other players wouldn't have run through the gap left by the Broadland defence, but Edgar's 'Rizla' like figure allowed him to dive through and score. Male converted to give Harwich a 3-31 lead at half time.

The second half was a much different story. After conceding five trys during the first 40 minutes Broadland had to up their game, and they did just that. The home side played with an improved defence and much more go forward. This was met by a Harwich side who after picking up the bonus point by half time seemed to have already left the field and were on the bus back down the A12.

The 200+kg centre partnership of Mills and Francis were in disarray during the 2nd half, the two players were found shaking and sweating in centre field. The physio reported no physical problem with the players, the pair were just concerned that they would have to go another two hours on the coach journey home without food. Physio Helen Fender guaranteed the bus would be stopping at Tesco on the return trip and the pair resumed the match.

Harwich then went down to 14 men for a few minutes, not because of a sin bin but when winger Naughty Nick Faliveno run out the pitch punching the air and cursing. The tourettes sufferer was heard saying 'F*c* that *h*t ***t mother f***er' as he left the field. Faliveno was sent to the naughty step by coach Shane Manning and resumed play once he had behaved for 5 minutes or so.

Broadland picked up the only score of the half with a penalty kick, making the final score 6-31. The penalty was awarded for 2 Harwich players not rolling away, this was not the case and the ref must be made aware of this for future games. Joshua Leeks and Jack Carins were not involved in the ruck, the two love birds were just laying down having a quick cuddle on the Harwich twenty two, the pair were just in the wrong place at the wrong time when a player was tackled on top of them.

Harwich will now focus on next week's Suffolk Plate quarter final when they host Eastern Counties league 2 leaders Thurston.
