Coming off a dominant performance the previous week Harwich were in a confident mood as they faced a side at the opposite end of the table to them.

This past Saturday Harwich entertained Thorpeness at Low Road. Coming off a dominant performance the previous week Harwich were in a confident mood as they faced a side at the opposite end of the table to them.

From the start Harwich settled into their work, dominating both the set piece and open play.

With Thorpeness falling off tackle after tackle David Parkin was the first to exploit this when he burst through to score a converted try. Harwich were looking likely every time they entered the away sides half. From a maul Kyran Green would score after the forwards drove the opposition forwards 20 metres and over the try line. More tries would come from Robert Edgar, Tommy Kite, Adam Palmer and Sam Male. Harwich however did not have the last say of the half as the Thorpeness number 8 ran in a try, Harwich were guilty of losing concentration allowing the struggling away side to score a deserved try.

With a halftime score of 36-5 the Harwich player /coach Shane Manning reinforced the need for his players to stay focused and not allow Thorpeness to score again.

With their coach’s words ringing in their ears Harwich began the second half with 2 quick tries to veteran winger Adrian Dalby. Dalby's first came after a clever blindside move off a midfield scrum, his second after sustained pressure on the Thorpeness line. With continued waves of attack player/ coach Manning bundled over to score from close range. This was followed by Kite and Green getting there respective second tries. Jack Cairns was next after a flowing backs move. The last try of the day would go to Kyle Hutchins after he showed his acceleration to out pace the chasing defence. With Male converting 6 of the 13 tries in tricky conditions for kicking, Harwich ran out comfortable 77-5 winners.

Harwich's next game is an away fixture against a youthful Sudbury side knowing that another win is vital in their promotion aspiration's.
